Sunny and Breezy

The conditions for the day were similar to the previous day so we started at our shell bed and managed a couple of decent 3-4 pound keepers on the 3/4 oz Omega Football jig.  The bite slowed and we quickly moved to the grass and managed to fill out our limit for about 14 pounds.  Heading back to the shell bed we pulled up and the water was on fire, white bass, stripers and largemouth were busting shad like crazy.  We were able to upgrade slightly before the bait and the bass moved down.

At that point I began throwing a bomber Fat Free shad and set the hook, it was definitely a pig, once it was in the net it was pushing 6.5 pounds quickly upgrading our limit to 17-18 pounds.  We hit a few other areas but could not manage to upgrade so around noon we headed back to the shell bed where my partner smacks one over 7 lbs on the 3/4 oz Omega Football jig.  This moves our limit up into the 24+ pound range.  Unable to upgrade anymore we head back to weigh-in where we weigh our fish for 24.60 pounds and Big Bass of 7.2 pounds.  This win allowed us to increase our lead in AOY going into the next event on Wilson Lake, a lake I have only fish a handful of times.
